REHABILITATION THERAPY

What is Rehabilitation Therapy?

Our trained rehabilitation team works hard to design an individualized treatment program to improve your pet’s quality of life. Before starting a rehabilitation program, an initial consultation is done to discuss your goals as well as build a relationship with our staff. Whether your pet is slowing down due to old age, suffering from an illness, or just needs some conditioning, we can help. Our goal is to aid your pet in living life to the fullest.

What kind of conditions are treated?

Rehabilitation can benefit animals with a wide diversity of issues. Patients can range from young animals to geriatric pets. Rehabilitation can be used in recovering from surgery or injury, restoring mobility, decreasing pain, improving strength, training athletes, and helping with weight loss. Listed below are just a few of the conditions rehabilitation can be used to help with.

  • Cruciate ligament tears
  • Patella luxation
  • Fractures
  • Amputations
  • Prosthetics
  • Achilles tendon rupture
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia
  • Tendon disease
  • Sports injuries
  • Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD)
  • Wobbler syndrome
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Fibrocartilaginous embolism (FCE)
  • Degenerative Myelopathy (DM)
  • Polyneuropathy
  • Vestibular disease
  • Obesity

Can older pets benefit from rehab?

Absolutely. More commonly rehabilitation is associated with the recovery process after a treatment rather than a treatment itself, but a weakening older pet who struggles to perform everyday tasks such as rising, climbing stairs and daily walks, rehabilitation can be a form of treatment.

Customized Therapy

We believe that for your pet to be successful with rehabilitation, an individualized, tailored program is needed. Each program is modified using a multimodal approach to help your pet. The ability to use a combination of modalities will help your pet recover to as normal a condition as possible.
